Preserve the Rights of Our Greatest Generation
At Stetson’s Center for Excellence in Elder Law, you'll study issues impacting seniors and/or those with special needs.
Whether you are interested in trusts, estate planning, disability law, probate, incapacity planning or advance directives, the Elder Law program of study will prepare you to advocate for your client — even if they can no longer advocate for themselves.
Why earn a Certificate of Concentration in Elder Law?
Prepare for a career in elder law by taking courses applicable to elder law, and receive mentoring from members of the faculty with experience and interest in elder law.
Participate in hands-on work with the Elder Law Clinic
Students in the clinic will be certified to practice law for clients 60 years and older under the supervision of a licensed attorney in the clinic. Those students will be responsible for all phases of client representation — including interview, investigation, drafting pleadings/documents, negotiations, administrative hearings and trials. Other students will be placed with assistant state attorneys, prosecuting consumer fraud misdemeanor cases where the victims are elderly.
