What's next on the Stetson Waitlist?

You made the Waitlist, and that's pretty great!

Admission to law school is competitive every year, with some cycles, including the current one, being more competitive than others.  Every cycle, law school admission offices make difficult decisions about every applicant as they build their incoming class enrolling the best of the applicant pool.  It takes both time and strategies, and the wait list is part of the enrollment strategy.  All law schools build a Waitlist (WL) and being placed on it means we like you and we believe you have potential, but sometimes we need more time to make a decision about an application.  That's just one of the reasons why we think making the Stetson Waitlist, while not ideal, is an accomplishment. So, congratulations!

But while you're waiting, consider taking some of these steps to help us connect with you sooner!

  1. 1. Update your contact info. This includes mailing address, email, and phone. We often call or email candidates to get more information. Don’t lose a seat because of old information!
  2. 2. Share something new. Did you receive a significant honor or award at graduation? Did you get a promotion or start a new job? Update your resume! Do you have an updated transcript on file with LSAC? Send us new updates that enhance your candidacy by filling out the "update" form on this page.

    3. Communicate your interest. Are you able to start last minute or wait until the week or two before classes begin? It's helpful, so tell us!
  3. 4. Consider Flex JD or Full-time. If you want to change your enrollment classification (from Full-Time to Flex JD, which was formerly referred to as Part-Time, or vice versa), that changes your profile a bit. Let us know so we can take all of your goals and needs into account.  Often our full-time program fills up before our Flex JD (part-time program). Check it out and inform us if you would consider this option.  Keep in mind, if you consider this option and are admitted to the Flex JD program from the Waitlist, we will no longer consider your application for the full-time program. But sometimes that is the best option as the cycle wanes and seats get more limited. If you’re interested in this option, indicate your interest on the form and we’ll follow up with you after May 15.

  4. Frequently Asked Questions

  5.

    1. When will I hear something?
    2. We get that waiting is always a challenge. That's why we provide you with updates as we have them. Those updates might come any time between April and August, but students who are willing to “hang on” have seen opportunities present themselves. After all, spots do open up unexpectedly. That's why we keep some people on the waitlist up until late-summer.
    3. How do I find out more about the Flex JD Program?
    4. To learn more about the Flex JD Program, check out the Flex JD Program page or the Flex JD FAQ page.
  1. Should I expect scholarship consideration if I am accepted from the waitlist?
  2. This isn't impossible, but given the competitiveness of this year's applicant pool, students accepted from the Waitlist may receive smaller scholarships or may not receive scholarships incoming.

    1. Where am I ranked?
    2. Stetson does not rank its Waitlist. We take another look at each candidates’ file during this process. That is why it is important to update information and convey continued interest. If we are going to offer you a seat, we will often call you personally to make the offer.
    3. If you call me off the waitlist at the last minute, can I get loans?
    4. YES! Fill out the FAFSA with our school code: E00342. If admitted, we'll ask for a quick turnaround of your $500 deposit so we can get your loans and registration in order promptly.
